Is the Start+ pen safe to use for kids?
Safety is our top priority. The Start+ operates at a low temperature, ensuring there are no hot external parts. The pen tip and filament can be safely touched without risk of burning. The Start+ is best for children ages 6-13.

What size filament does the pen need?
The Start+ uses 2.5 mm Eco-filament strands that are low-heat, BPA-free, and non-toxic. At this time, we do not support using other brands of 2.5mm filament that have not been safety tested for use with the 3Doodler Start+.

How long will a charged pen last?
The Start+ heats up quickly and can also be used while plugged in. On a full charge, the pen will last 45-60 minutes, depending on use.

What can I draw on?
Because of the low temperature, you can draw on just about any surface, including paper or even your skin. We recommend using non-stick surfaces (always test a surface before use). Users can also doodle directly on the Guide that comes with the pen.

What type of battery or charging cable does the pen require?
The Start+ comes with a USB-C charging cable.

Can I change the color of the filament midway through a strand
Yes! The Start+ has a forward and backwards button, so you can reverse filament out of the pen to change colors. Just make sure to snip the ends of the reversed filament. Extruded filament cannot be reused.

How much filament is used for projects?
3Doodler Eco-filaments extrude up to 6 times the length of a strand, so one 6-inch strand can yield over 35 inches of doodles! For example, creating glasses like the ones in the manual takes 5-8 strands of filament.

Has trouble with reversing function, sometimes it just doesn't work so you have to continue to use the same color till it's all used up but other than that kids love it.
